Taos has a strong vendor-neutral stance. Meaning, we make it our business to know and understand the variety of vendor hardware and software solutions available to the IT space, but we do not let our judgement become clouded by partnerships or resale relationships. We gain our intimate familiarity by using the most common range of systems and tools in our lab; by engaging in assignments for IT vendors in their engineering, customer support, and internal IT organizations; and by encountering the variety of products available on our day-to-day engagements with our entire client community.

Our vendor-neutral stance allows us to make sure we make the right recommendations for your environment and your budget. It also means that we have a more holistic and experienced view to bring to your unique challenges. And, thinking out of the box - questioning the question, as well as developing an answer - is fundamental to our way of thinking.

With this in mind, and with our proven methodologies in hand, we are able to quickly help your management define the driving set of business goals and objectives, translate those into technical requirements, and put together the right architecture to address the requirements.

This is generally the right time to start engaging vendors. We develop the appropriate RFP, including the technical requirements, and ask vendors to propose the solution they think is most appropriate, along with their pricing. Then, we begin the process of negotiating with them to get to the final best architecture and final best price. We develop a Decision Point Matrix against which to compare the vendors and exhaustively consider the options.

In the end, we choose our recommendation with input from you and, where desired, develop the business case and the ROI for the chosen solution. Our final recommendation comes backed with all the documented detail necessary to make an informed decision: your business drivers and technical requirements; our process, our methods for defining the architecture, and any supporting data gathered from the existing infrastructure; the decision points we considered to choose the appropriate vendor; and all the data we used to determine the ROI.
